A poll is syntax for soliciting opinion on a series of options.
Sometimes you're just look for a straw poll picked from a couple different options. There are a couple different ways to do this, each with their own benefit.
It is unclear how responses might be tallied or measured, but at least on Twitter, it's possible by monitoring replies. The window of response time is usually limited to at longest 24 hours.
It's worth pointing out that in the few attempts I've made at polling my followers, none responded in the format I used for the poll. That is, when I asked people to check (using brackets: "[ ]") a response as their answer, no one did.
